Happy to be ‘home’

It fills me with so much joy to be “home” back here in this blog that I’ve had for close to 14 years now. My first blog post was on Nov. 30, 2008. Crazy. Gosh my life has taken so many twists and turns, as it does for all of us.

This blog wasn’t always “The Wandering Pigeon.” I honestly can’t remember what it was called before I dubbed it what it’s called today.

A little background refresh

This blog became “The Wandering Pigeon” after a whirlwind trip to NYC, where myself and two co-workers went for a crazy few days to chase down some stories for the newspaper we worked for. I fell in love with the pigeons of NYC. They were everywhere! Well, much to my partner’s frowning, one day I decided to follow a rather unique-looking bird down a sidewalk. Long story short, I got lost. In NYC, where I had never been before. I ended up hailing a cab, only to ride for three blocks back to the hotel. The cab driver was more than happy to take my money, while laughing under his breath.

After I returned, “The Wandering Pigeon” turned not only into my blog name, but also a column that I had for a period of time until I left the paper to go to my current job.

What to expect

Just about anything. Really. Everything from travel blogging to posts with my thoughts, to Haikus/other poetry and commentary on current events. We’ll cover it all.

Thrilled to be back

And today, this blog comes full-circle, my heart is home here. I cannot wait to see where this newest adventure takes us.

Thanks for coming along for the ride!
