This is a picture of a friend of mine at the gym the other day. We decided to try out our local rec center for the first time. B-R-U-T-A-L is the appropriate word for being this out of shape. While it felt good to get moving and use the machines, it wasn’t long before my muscles were screaming at me.
And the cardio machines were the worst. I remember a time in my life when I could spend an hour on the stair stepper with no problem. Sure, it was hard, but I made it through. When my stair stepper told me I had all of four minutes left (when I’d only been on it two) the other day, I thought I was going to die. We won’t talk about how long it took me to give up.
It’s all small steps and all about pacing myself. WAY easier said than done. I want to lose the weight NOW. But like my friend says, I didn’t put it on overnight and it won’t come off overnight either.
