I’m at home enjoying a nice day off listening to HLN. And I hear the grim news: cursive could be on its way out and some schools already have stopped teaching cursive to its students already.
Now, I’m not really sure how to feel about this. And one teacher interviewed made a good point. She said the high school students coming to her cannot read the cursive comments she puts on the students’ papers. If you don’t know how to write cursive you won’t be able to read it….good point. Very good point.
I haven’t decided whether this is a good thing or a bad thing…but my gut is that it’s bad. Eliminate cursive? Really? How are these kids going to sign their name? In block print? Really?
