The Stop That Mattered

Travel isn’t always about the destination. Sometimes it’s about where you choose to stop.

This morning, that meant pulling over on a busy highway for a scared dog standing in traffic. Cars flying past. No guarantee it would go well.

But I stopped.

What I didn’t know then is the dog belonged to a family already carrying deep grief, preparing to say goodbye to someone they love this week. Losing their dog too, suddenly and violently, would have been another heartbreak they didn’t deserve.

Because I stopped, they didn’t have to carry that.

The road teaches you a lot. To pay attention. To slow down. To step in when it matters, even when it’s inconvenient, even when it’s risky.

Not every meaningful moment comes with a view.

Some just ask you to be a decent human being and hit the brakes.
