Daylight Savings Time + Haiku

Why oh why do we have to go through this torture twice a year?

But, first, my Haiku:

Daylight Savings Time To bed early,
up the same
Birds tweet confusion.

A little back story on this piece. It’s currently 12:21 a.m. Monday. I have t work tomorrow, but my brain and body have decided not to sleep so I’m up writing blog content. My brain is confused because we’re off to bed early and up early, too. My brain is on the time that was in effect on Saturday.

Now, let’s talk about the last line about the birds. There is this bird who lives in a bush in front of my house who is honestly the most annoying wild bird on this planet (or at least where I live). This bird will sit in that bush and tweet as loud as it can. Which, is honestly fine, IF it wasn’t the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. Tonight is on exception as I lie in bed trying to sleep.

“Tweet. Tweet. Tweetttttttt.”

Stop already. Because, you know, I have to work tomorrow. In all honesty, I kinda find that bird endearing and there’s lots to learn from that little tweeter who lives outside my window. The little gal isn’t afraid to speak her mind, even at now 12:26 a.m.

But, back to Daylight Savings Time. I don’t approve. I’d like it to end now. But they didn’t ask me…I’ll just lie back down and listen to the tweets.

Happy Monday, friends. I hope you got more sleep than I did.
